Other Early Political Songs

During times of intense political awareness, it is not unusual for songs to be written expressing the point of view of one side or another. Many patriotic songs were written and popular during World Wars I and II. Songs opposing the Vietnam war in the sixties and seventies were common (example, Four Dead in Ohio) or supporting it (Ballad of the Green Beret). Such was the case in the young United States.
